Once a year, we support our most successful female PhD or MD candidate with up to 5.000 € travel budget to build up an international network, gain experience from successful international PIs and to explore career options in academia.
The highlight of the mentoring focusses on an intense time in the lab of the mentor. The mentor can be selected freely by the candidate and can be female or male. Before and after the lab visit individual career coachings can be planned according to the needs of the mentee – online or offline.

Who can apply?
- you must be female PhD and MD SynAGE members
- you must be between the end of 1st year and 4th year of your PhD or as an MD student you have finished your first half year
- you must have submitted your thesis proposal
- you must get an excellent evaluation by an independent SynAGE evaluation board
How to apply?
Please submit:
- your CV, including a list of SynAGE activities you participated in
- a motivation letter (1 page; including your mentoring idea and how this will foster your career development)
- a budget and time plan

In 2024,
- deadline for application: 15.03.2024
- evaluation of application by independent SynAGE evaluation board
- expected date of decision: 28.03.2024
- time frame for international mentoring: June to December 2024
