18.09.: Managing a PhD project
The goal of the workshop is to make you more capable of acting during your doctorate. Dominik Modrzynski (Otto Future Hub) will provide you with tools like Kanban and scrum that might help you to structure and systematize your work. First, however, it is necessary to set the framework and explain what project management and agility are. From this input you will conclude phases of a PhD, define tasks and milestones and you will learn what it means to work iterative and establish feedback.
19.09.: Introduction to Good Scientific Practice (GSP)
In this course, demanded by the DFG, you will learn the basics and rules of good scientific practice, the influence of GSP in supervision and how to avoid scientific misconduct. In addition, Dr. Christiane Hedtmann (OVG Graduate Academy) will give insights into the publication process and possible related misconduct.

21.09.: Open Science- reproducible workflows
This workshop is about teaching Open Science principles while adhering to GSP and FAIR principles. The focus will be on study design, storage, reuse, and availability of self-generated data. In addition, the basics of research data management will also be addressed by Dr. Malika Ihle and Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Plesnia (LMU Munich).
22.09.: Animal Research and Welfare
The workshop will focus on legal background of animal research and new regulations. You will discuss about how to select suitable animal models (incl. considering alternatives to animal research, ethical justification). Moreover, you will be updated on housing, breeding and healthcare possibilities, ethics and communication of animal research and harm-benefit analysis and 3R principles. The workshop will be conducted by Melanie Humpenöder (Apprendis UG, ) and can be credited as continuing education according to § 3 Abs. 2 TierSchVersV.
