On June, 14th our research training group participated in the Long Night of Science 2025! Under the motto Knowledge. From here. Many people showed their interest in science and research: families with kids, groups of friends, elderly couples…

Numerous different institutions in Magdeburg – from university to the Leibniz Institute, from the university for applied sciences to the natural history museum – joint and opened their doors on Saturday evening. Late into the night you could get unique insights also behind doors that are usually closed. Faszinating experiments, exciting lab tours, unique hands-on activities, and a broad range of lectures waited for the visitors.
We heard from people who had a hard time deciding what to pick.

However, our doctoral students, postdocs and PIs weren’t just visitors; they also actively participated in the evening. They offered numerous hands-on activities, including one on the topic of „How Perception Can Be Deceiving,“ as well as a hand strength challenge, which was not only fun but participants could learn more about why physical fitness is one of the keys to healthy aging.
Of course, our members also took the chance to take a closer look at other institutes, research groups and companies. From jumping rope for cognitive training to relaxation exercises to help you unwind, from a visit to Neoscan Solutions to see how a pediatric MRI scanner is produced to a live show on „Memory, Data & Research,“ there was something for everyone.
We would like to thank our members for their active participation and hope that everyone will continue to be so curious.
